A NEW PASTOR
.ST. JAMES'S ..CHURCH, NEWTOWN
On Thursday next the Presbytery of Wellington will induct the Rev. W. R. Milne to the pastorate 6f St. James, ministered to for so many years by 'the Rev. W. Shirer. Mr. Shirer having retired through failing health, his congregation unanimously decided to extend a call to Mr. Milne to take up the work at St. James's, and Mr. Milne has accepted the call.
Mr. Milne is a young man in the prime of life, and comes to Wellington well equipped for the work he has undertaken. He hails from Wairoa, in the Hawkes Bay district, where he has laboured with considerable success, and is held in the very highest esteem. He has been there for the past five or six years, Previous to his Wairoa pastorate he held the charge of Kurow, where he laboured with success for five years. He commenced his career as a home missionary, and, after serving in that capacity for a time, he entered KJiox College to study for the ministry. He was a good student, and, as a mark of his popularity among his fellow students, he was elected by them to the position ot president of Kflox College Theological Society. '
