DRY FOR YEARS
QUEENSLAND AN INLAND SEA
TRAIN PASSENGERS MAROONED
(Received 30th January, 2 p.m.)
BRISBANE, This Day.
Many parts of Northern and Western Queensland that have been dry for years are now inland seas, and in some parts the train passengers have been marooned in railway carriages for a fortnight.
Two horsemen at different parts were drowned when their horses plunged into surging waters, and a third man was drowned at Cunnamulla.
■ There is now a complete/stoppage of railway services in tho North and West. Approximately a thousand passengers are stranded at different parts. Supplies of foodstuffs at Mount Isa are running short, as the town has been isolated for a fortnight.
