SANDERS CUP
THE CLYDE SELECTED
The selection of the Clyde as Wellington's representative in the Sanders Cup contest, which commences at Auckland on 2Sth January, was announced at last evening's meeting of .the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association. The three selectors also reported that they had chosen the following orew:—N. Rowntree (skipper), C. Eowntree, R. Kerr,*H. Aldred, and It. Shelton. Mr. L. Smith (owner of the Clyde) and Mr. F. C. Holmes were appointed delegates to represent Wellington at the Dominion Conference, which meets during the contest, and the latter was appointed manager of the crew. All four trial races were won easily by the Clyde, and her selection was a foregone conclusion. She was Wellington's candidate at the last contest at Akaroa, and it was only by a very small margin that the Auckland representative (the Avalon) beat her in the deciding race and prevented her from bringing the Sanders Cup to Wellington for the first time. N. Rowntree was skipper of the Clyde at Akaroa, and the selectors have been completely justified in choosing him to sail the boat, in view o£ the splendid showing he made during the trials.
