FOUR LOAN POLLS
VOTING AT UPPER HUTT
The four loan proposals submitted to the Upper Hutt ratepayers yesterday resulted in the water headworks and the water reticulation loans, involving a total sum of £15,800, being carried, but the fire brigade and the municipal office site loans, for £3500 and £2000 respectively, were defeated. There were 1350 ratepayers on the roll, so that the poll was a very poor one. About 30 declaration votes are still to come, but cannot affect the result in any way. The results of the voting were: '
Water Head Works Loan, £5800 — For, 206; against, 146; majority for the proposal, 00.
Water Reticulation Loan, £10,000. For, 149; against, 112; majority for the proposal, 37.
Fire Brigade Loan, £3500.—F0r, 152; against, 188; majority against the proposal, 36.
Municipal Office Site Loan, £2000.— For, 81; against, 255; majority against the proposal, 177.
