IN FORMA PAUPERIS
APPEAL TO PRIVY COUNCIL
REFUSED IN POWER CASE
(Received 19th December, 8 a.m.) LONDON, 18th December. The Privy Council dismissed the petition for leave to appeal in forma pauperis against the decision of the Court of Appeal of New Zealand in-the case of Power versus the King.
Michael Power, a police constable, was fined for a breach of the Police Regulations, and was subsequently dismissed. An action brought in the Supreme Court against the Crown for wrongful dismissal resulted in his favour, but the decision was reversed by the Court of Appeal. Leave to appeal to the Privy Council was granted, one of the conditions being . that Power should find a bond of £500 for costs. He petitioned the Privy Council for leave to appeal without the necessity of finding a bond, and that petition has now been dismissed.
