DESTRUCTION OF PIGEONS

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l would like to express my opinion logardmg pigeon-poisoning in the city. It seems to lie an unnecessary and foolish action. The objection to the presence of these beautiful buds in the city is apparently that wherever they live they cause the slight disfigurement of the buildings which they frequent. The old edifices are brightened by the presence of the harmless creatures, which quite compensates for the -unsightliness of a few ledges and "cornets away up where no one with anything to do is likely to look. The pretty groups of happy-looking pigeons running about the pavement's in search of food are a pleasure to all birdlovers. Wo have few enough feathered mends -with IIS j n the rush and roar of the city, yet we must heartlessly slaughter those which live trustingly and contentedly around us, so removing one of the prettiest sights to bo seen in our streets. —I am, etc.,

HINEMANU.
