NOVEMBER FIGURES { . DECREASE SHOWN i-ne November shipping and cargo statistics for the Port of Wellington, presented at last evening's meeting of the.Harbour Board, showed an appreciable decrease in the tonnage of shipping and of cargo handled as compared with November, 1928. , The net registered tonnage of trad-1 ing vessels arriving was 279,284, the1 figure for the corresponding period last year being 314,652. The total net registered tonnage of overseas vessels departing was 105,618 (Great Britain 32,448, other overseas ports 73,170). During November, 1928, the tonnage of overseas vessels departing was 118,218. . S During last month the total quantity of cargo handled was 149,776 tons, as compared with 165,532 tons for November, 1928:— . Following are the figures for the two periods:— Nov., 1928. M'Ewan) remarked that the cargo decrease was mainly confined to oil, which fluctuated from month to month. The current month would probably show a considerable increase.
