FRUIT HANDLING INQUIRY

NELSON, 18th December.
The special committee set up by the executives of the various fruitgrowers', associations to inquire into the handling of the export fruit last season has lost ho time in commencing work. The first meeting was held on Monday, when the following were present: Mr. D. Haining (Motueka Association), Mr. A. Forsyth (Hills Union), Mr. A. Brown (Redwood's Valley and Waimea Associations), Mr. E. R. Black (Stoke Fruitgrowers' Association); Mr. Howard Knight (Nelson Export Fruitgrowers' Association), Mr. J. Dicker (Advisory Board, temporary). Mr. Howard Knight was elected chairman and Mr. A. Brown secretary. All proceedings will be in committee until the inquiry is concluded, and a report prepared for submission to growers.
The Nelson junior cricket representatives to play Marlborough at Blenheim on New Year's Day are as follows:—Hasler (Hospital), Stewart (Wakatu), M'Briae (P. and T.), J. Haycock, Cole, L. Delaney (Athletic), J. Simpson (Old Boys), Vass, Yasta, and Johnston (Tahuna), Colcman (Victory).
