ANGORA RABBIT WOOL.

Breeding of Angora rabbits for their appears to have been taken up far more extensively in New South Wales than in New Zealand, but if all that has been ascertained by the Department pf Agriculture of New South Wales is -f*?*«et, tfcer* is not very much in the Industry for the producer. Mr. Troby, Minister of Agriculture, New South Wales, with a desire to enlighten producers of Angora wool in that State, has had special inquiries made with the result that he has announced: "It would appear that up to the present no martot lias been located for the disposal at satisfactory prices, of rabbit wool prddaced in Australia." Following upon an intimation that Messrs. Walter Berry and Sons, Limited, of Deighton Mills, Huddersfield, were purchasing Angora rabbit wool at satisfactory prices, inquiries as to the actual position was made through the Agent-General for New South Wales in London. Advice has now been received *>T Mr. Thorby from the Agent-General to tn« effect that the offer of purchase made by- this firm applies only to the rabbit wool produced by three hundred English breeders engaged in this industry, and that having completed arrangements with these particular rabbit farmers, Messrs. Ban? and Sons have now ceased buying. Messrs. Berry's prices were 25s per pound for first graded Us per lb for Second grade wool. Last September the British "Jounfcil of Agriculture" reported the market much restricted, due (1) to large offerings of foreign Angora wool, averaging 14s per pound, aud (2) changes of fashion. The average yield of wool per rabbit is ten ounces per annum, with ftaror £*t cuttings.
