IRISH BUTTER CONTROL.
The. organisation of butter factories in Southern Ireland known as Irish Associated Creameries, Ltd., has been financed by the Government of the Irish Free State. •nd has been given every facility to market tutter. That the association has not fceen altogether successful was indicated ty;.a recent announcement by the Minis-.'.te'r-'for Agriculture (Mr. Hogan) that he intended to introduce 'a Bill making it compulsory for all creameries not now affiliated with the company to sell their butter through it. A conference of managers of unassociated creameries opposed the measure, and stated that in the open market they were able to obtain a minimum of 3s a cwt more for their butter than .was paid by Irish Associated Cream-cries-to its suppliers. By joining the association, they said, they would lose about £120 a. month. The unassociated factories ■ claimed that a large percentage cf members of the association were so dissatisfied with the results obtained so far that they "were anxiously awaiting the expiration of their contracts, so that they could resume the marketing "of their own butter.
