NURSING DIVISION

There was a large.and interested attendance at tho annual meeting of the Wellington South Nursing Division (St. John Ambulance Brigade), which' took place recently. The- 17th annual.report was presented and adopted with the balance-sheet. It was stated that appreciation was felt for the excellent work of all members, who made a record attendance in response to calls for duty during the year. Ten new members from tho "First Aid" and "Home Nursing" classes had joined. A number of changes of officers were noted, Mrs. Gaby being congratulated on her x)romotion to Lady Corps Superintendent. Mention was. made- of the excellent service rendered by the division on the sports grounds at the Winter Show, school picnics, and the,air pageant.

"First Aid" had been administered to 380 cases by those on public duty;' 77 cases were treated privately; and there had been 129 home nursing cases, 12 being transport—a. total oir 58U cases. The service rendered included special duty at Trentham Camp, when College Cadets were in training, and also the after-care- of patients from the General Hospital. Recorded, also were the many classes in which instruction had been given in "First Aid" and "Home Nursing," including thoso for Girl Guides, Scout Troops,. Borstal Institution; also many meetings of the Mothers' Union and League of Mothers had been addressed. In competitions in Wellington and other parts, outstandingly good work had been done, and good places taken in examinations by members. Assistance had been given at most of the charitable street days, and other efforts for the community. Ec-examinations had been conducted by D'rs. Luke and Chapman, with good results, and an inspection will be held at the final meeting for the year. At the meeting Dr.'Platts-Mills presented Mrs. Gaby with an enlarged photograph of officers and members of the division, and at the close of the meeting gifts were presented to Miss Groves, and good wishes for her future happiness were expressed.

The thanks of the division were given to those who had helped during the year, to tho judges of divisional competitions, Drs. Chapman and Tennant, and Sister West-Watson for lectures, to Mrs. Huggins for presenting the Atalanta Cup and medal for competition, to the hon. auditor (Mr. Ludwig), to the Scouts who assisted as patients, and to the Press.
