ARCHBISHOP ATTACKED
VATICAN CITY'S FIRST CRIME

BOMB, 25th November.
The first crime of intent to sully the record of the newly-constituted Vatican City State occurred when Margaret Gudum, a Swede, accosted Archbishop Smith, drew a revolver, and endeavoured to shoot him. Prince George of Bavaria, Prebendary'at St. Peter's struck up the weapon. Gudam is believed to be mentally afflicted. Yesterday she applied to Archbishop Smith, formerly Apostolic Vicar of Sweden, for employment. She was dissatisfied with his reply, and sought revenge. ■ 6
