"ALL ELECTRIC"

EXHIBITION AT.TOWN HALL

Houseproud people, and there are many of them in spite of the limitations which flats and high rents impose,1 are always on the look-out for practicalVways and means of improving the management of their homes, and because of the amazing number of domestic uses to which electricity can now be put, the%force which was once only considered as a means .of lighting individual rooms bids fair to become the outstanding feature of household arrangements. As a" prelude to a Dominion-wide advertising campaign early next year, and in order that everyone may have the, opportunity of seeing for themselves just how the many electric devises work, local members of the trade have staged an es-. hibition at the Town Hall to be open from 10.30 a.m. to 10.3 a p.m. until Thursday next. The stalls of each of the twenty firms have effective displays, and attendants are ready to answer "any of the questions which visitors may want to ask. Appropriate to the occasion are the lighting effects inside and outside the hall, and high-class musical programmes are to be provided both afternoon and evening by Mr. James Haydock's quintet, the Wellington Municipal Tramways Band, and a number of well-known individual artists. It will thus be seen that everything has been done to make a thoroughly agreeable setting to the exhibition. Special interest is sure to attach to the afternoon cooking demonstrations, in which every type of range procurable will be displayed, and in the refrigerators and radiators. The value of a moveable "fire" which can be plugged in in any room in the house is easily seen,- as are the.. advantages of refrigerators, particularly to those who entertain, and both these lines are in growing demand.*' Machines which take the drudgery out of Monday's wash are also on show, besides innumerable "gadgets" such as toasters, grillers, and lamps, which to see is to long for. Menfolk will be particularly interested in the latest electrical radio sets, with which the radio "fan" simply puts the plug in the wall and the machine starts, no aerials' being needed,, and also in the electric gramophones and the water heating display. It is claimed that a very moderate sum will electrically equip an averafe 5-room-ed house with electric lighting, firing, heating -and cooking, so that all planning new homes or alterations to old ones should be particularly interested in the" exhibition which the Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup, will officially open at 7.45 to-night.
