THEFT BY SPECIAL CONSTABLE

AUCKLAND, This Day. At the Police Court to-day, Allan Gordon Watam, formerly storekeeper in charge of a Harbpur Board shed, appeared fpr. sentence on six charges of theft of liquor, silk, and other goods. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment on one charge. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., said it was a sad case, the accused having been married only two years. Probation was out of the question, for Wattam had betrayed his trust not only tq the board, but to the country which had made "him a special constable.
