THE USEFUL BANANA

No matter whether your holiday is planned for country or seaside, be sure to include two or three thoroughly ripe bananas among your toilet requisites, says an exchange. A few thin slices of banana added to your washing water each morning will prevent the face reddening unduly when motoring or cycling. If the face "burns" after playing golf or tennis in the sun, a few slices of banana, which have been soaked in lemonade, applied to the affected parts will give almost instant relief. Then, if the chest and arms begin to peel after an overdose of sun, a few slices of banana soaked for five minutes in enough milk s to cover them, and applied to the skin gently, will be found efficacious in drawing out the fire. And these are so soothing to tender skins. Leave on for five minutes, and then replace with freshly-soaked pieces. Heat lumps—those tiny white spots which appear on the hands,' arms, and chest, and are due to prolonged exposure to the sun—can also be effectually dealt with by the application of banana and olive oil. . Just moisten the freshly-cut end of a banana in the- oil and then rub the skin for a minute or so. Allow the liquid to soak well into the skin, then wipe dry with a clean, soft handkerchief. Lastly, tender and sore feet on holiday will be greatly eased if they are rubbed with a blend of banana juice, olive oil, and a pinch of borax. First, bathe the feet in tepid water and dry on a soft towel. While the skin is warm and moist, take ■ a well-ripened banana, smear on a little olive oil, then add the merest trace of borax, and massage the skin well with a rotary movement. ■ < Now allow to dry for ten minutes, then wipe off the superfluous moisture. Do this the last thing at night, and your feet will be almost normal by morning, so that you will be able to go happily forward to "pastures new." Try these hints nest time the occasions arise. They may be unusual, but you will find them excellent, and will want immediately to pass them on to all your friends.
