-MEETINGS OF BRANCHES

A well-attended gathering with a line spirit of enthusiasm • marked the annual meeting of the Kelburn branch or the League of Mothers this weekIhe annual report showed good progress and a lively interest in all brandies of the work. It was stated that the branch had been most fortunate '- in hearinga series of interesting and instructive addresses which, touching on many , Phases of experience, had helped and bene- | hted all. Great pleasure had been given [by the music provided by the various performers who had brightened the meetings and given of their best, and a JJaleroze • eurhythmies demonstration given by Miss Eileen Russell and pupils was- specially attractive. The report added- Ihe league feels deeply the heartfelt regret with -which we have to bid good-bye to our Dominion president I Lady- Alice Fergusson. and the memory of larewell meeting -still lingers with us. The election of officers for the year was as follows:—President, Mrs. F. Alaclean;. vice-prudent, Mrs. Inglis; hon vice-president, Mrs. G. A. Troup; . hon' secretary, Mrs. 8..L. Dallard; hon. treasurer, Mrs. H. Buddie (all re-elected unanimously); committee, Mesdames Jolly, Taylor Widdop, Briggs, Webb, H. Corrigan, and Davidson (re-elected with nine new members), Mesdames Cresswell, Cramond Forgie, Tolly, Spratt.i Black, MacFarlanc MacPhce, and J. O. Priestly; Votes ot thanks were passed by acclamation to tlie various speakers and " singers who had assisted during the year; to the retiring members of committee whose work was greatly appreciated, and to the management of the Presbyterian Church for the tree use of the hall, electricity, and gas for the year. A social hour was held alter the.business was concluded, when Mrs. Downer sang, giving much pleasure A competition was won by Mrs. Tolley' and the singing of the National Anthem terminated the proceedings The annual meeting of the Wadestown branch of the League of Mothers was largely attended. Mrs. A. R. Stone, who was in the chair, was presented with a pretty bouquet by little Miss Adams, me annual report and balance-sheet were presented and adopted. Mrs. Stone suitabry replied Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Pope also received dainty gifts. The arts and crafts exhibition commenced at 3 pm when Mrs. Wilkinson g ave a.most in"! structive talk on vitamines. There was a toe display of the various arts and crafts ' including crochet, knitting, embroidery', cookery, stencilling, woodwork, painting m oils and water-colours, leatherwork, enamelling, raffia, brass and peVter, sealing wax, marqueterie. and various novelaes and antiques. The following ladies wipenntended the various tabte--son, Stafford M'Kay, and Hardle. Arts and crafts other than needlework: Mesdames Pope M'Donald, Hilkie, Hislop, and Miss Lomas. The Lyall Bay Home and School Association will hold an entertainment in Kilbirnie Hall, Kilbirnie crescent, on Monday evening at 8 o'clock, for the school playgroud improvements • fund. Gymnastic displays will be given by the pupils of the Jenkins School of Physical Culture and elocutionary and vocal items by Mrs' Menard's pupils, all of whom were prized winners in the recent Wellington competitions. The association relies on parents and residents to support its effort to raise money for the school, and provide good playgrounds for the children,
