HEAVY INCREASE IN EXPORTS

Shipments for the month of October were 10,324 tons, compared with 5957 tons for October, 1928. Of the butter shipped in October, 1929, to the United Kingdom the position at time of shipment was that 60 per cent, was consigned and 40 per cent, sold f.o.b. The substantial increase in exports to Canada this season should be noted. Shipments for the month of October were 7016 tons compared with 0457 tons for October, 1928. Of the cheese shipped in October, 1929, to the United Kingdom the position at time of shipment was that 91 per cent, was consigned and 9 per cent, sold f.o.b. The value of butter taken at 182s per cwt. would be £3,273,270; and of cheese at 93s would be £1,037,229, so that for the first three months of the season the value of dairy produce exported on these averages would approximate £4--310,500.
