Captain Bert Hinkler lectured on his flight to Australia at Westminster School, in aid of the Kiug Edward's Hospital Fund. After describing his flight, which had incidentally solved many up to that time insoluble aircraft problems, he emphasised the practical value of his own design of under-car-riage as .demonstrated in the AngloAustralian flight.
The Master of Sempill, presiding, said that, speaking with a long practical knowledge of aviation, Britain was compelled to admit that Australia, in proportion to her population, led the whole Empire in the skilfulness, enterprise, and expansion of air services, meeting the needs of even the remotest communities. This marvellous development was largely due to 'the impetus given by such pioneers as Sir Ross Smith, Keith Smith, Kingsford Smith, and Hinkler, notably the latter, whoso solo flight to Australia was one of tho greatest achievements in the history of tho world's aviation.
