DUNEDIN, This Day. A young woman named Calder, a nurse, had a narrow escape from drowning while swimming at the St. Clair Beach. • A hundred yards out she was seen to throw her arms, up, signalling for help. Kichard Coxon swam out and got hold of her, but could make no headway against the undertow. Then Ivan Turnbull swam out against the strong.current with a life-line, and the three got ashore in an exhausted condition.
