SANDERS CUP

FINANCIAL ASPECT

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, 13th November. At a meeting o£ the Otago Yacht and Motor-boat Association to-night considerable discussion took place regarding the financing of interprovincial yacht contests. Correspondence disclosed the fact that some Otago clubs were not in a position to contribute the usual amount towards the expense of sending an Otago boat and crew to compete -in the Sanders Cup contest, and it is iapparent the association is faced with some difficulty in raising the necessary money. . .

The president (Mr. J. T. Paul) said unless interprovincial contests were supported by the clubs, then such contests must eventually go by the board. He was of opinion that the Otago Association or the affiliated clubs could not continue to bear the cost involved in sending crews to compete in Sanders and Cornwell Cup contests. He knew the Otago clubs had difficulty in- raising money in the past, and did not wish to burden the clubs any further.

It was decided to leave the matter to each individual club for consideration.
