LAWBEATH DISPUTE
CARRYING OF PHOSPHATES
(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
DUNEDIN, This Day. .Regarding the agreement come to by the Disputes Committee at Wellington, conceding the concessions asked for by the crew of the Lawbeath, a clause was added that it was to be regarded as an isolated case.
It is pointed out here that the wider issue involved, that all ships carrying phosphates from Nauru to New Zealand shall pay New Zealand rates of wages, has not been agreed to. It probably did not come within the scope of the committee.
