AUCKLAND,;-This Day. Giving, evidence for the defence in the. charge of murder, Mrs. Caffrey, -wife of the accused, said that Caffrey and Byrne went out of Caffrey's home about 6.40 p.m. She identified the blodstained dark trousers and the brown boots, which were, produced, as having belonged.to Byrne. She denied having seen in. her house the sheath knife produced. Byrne changed his shirt and nest day she found tho brown boots in the washhouse.
