The monthly meeting of the council \va» held at the secretary's office on Tuesday, when there were present: Mr. WY E. \. bill, Sir Alexander Roberts, Colonel E O Ckesney, Messrs. A. D. S. Duncan and G. 0.. Sutton (secretary). 3lr. W. E. A.- Gill was re-elected chairman of the council for the coming year, and fcir Alexander Roberts was re-elected vicechairman. . ■■ .t
Mr. M. J. Crombie was elected a member of the Appeal Committee in place o£ Mr. H. K. Balneavis. . '
A reply was received from the Australian Golf Union, in view of which "arrangements will be gone on with for playing the Kirk-Windeyer Cup and tournament on the Shirley Links, Christchurch, just before Easter,, 1930, probably-the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th April (Monday to Thursday). . ■
.1930.—The Australian Golf Union ad•nsed that the Australian open, amateur arid professional championships -will be played on the Metropolitan Golf 'Links,' Uakleigu, Melbouiue, commencing on luesday, 9th September, 1930. It was reported that no reply has been received to the cablegram to Kirkwood asking whether he and Hagen will be prepared to play against two local ' professionals instead of playing ah exhibition match.
The Wellington Golf Club replied statins tuat it will be quite willing to have the professionals' autumn tournament at Heretaunga, just-before the Hagen-Kii-kwood match. Ihe association is now 'awaiting definite advice from the Professional Gol£ ers_ Association as to whether its concurs Ihe secretary reported tliat- no acknowledgment had been received from the Kojral and Ancient Golf Club of St. Anjjtfews to his letter of-11th June inquirins whether the Royal and Ancient Golf Club could permit the use of steel-shafted clubs m New Zealand. ...
