VERY LARGE ATTENDANCE

Tho Wellington Trotting Club's Spring Meeting was held on the much-, improved -Hutt Park course ' to-day. There was a very large attendance and great interest was. taken in the extcn--sive alterations which, have been cf--1 fecto'i since .the last meeting in March, the track, considering its newness, provided ..very good going. . After the first furlong Mac Locanda was in front, but Lady Author took charge along the back where Grand1 Canyon had improved his position. With a round to go, Lady Author was in charge with^ Baron Derby in, second place and tb© "favourite next. Grand Canyon broke up badly, and lost a, lot -of ground. Baron Derby ciumi into the - straight first, closely followed by the favourite, the pair being well clear of Lady Author. Bon Boy headed St. -Petrox round the turn, and came into the straight with a good lead. Nelson Parrish being then iii third place.
