November: • The Prime .Minister, Mr. BanisaV Max-Donald, arrived at Liverpool this morning, aud after a. meeting, in which he was greeted by the Lord ,Mayor of Liverpool and the Earl of Derby, he left by special tr;un for London. 'Ha issued tho following statement to the. Press:— . My visit to the United States ami. Canada has given me great satisfaction. I believe sincerely that niy ■ conversations with President -Hoover and other American statesmen, have brought oux- two peoples much- closer - together, and improved their mutual understanding. They have also I am convinced, paved the way to a more effectual co-operation with other Powers in the maintenance of peace m the world. Strong in this conviction, I feel that thus far the purpose of my mission has been fulfilled, and that the way is now cleared for thenext step. ... _ The exchange of views I had with Mr. Mackenzie King, Priure Minister of-.Canada, both on the United States mission and on Imperial affairs was also most advantageous aud timely ' Throughout my visit I have endeavl mired to voice what I believe to be -the peaceful aspirations of the British, people in all parts of the Empire and I have met with nothing but *"-< most welcome response.
