WRESTLING CHALLENGE
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, Ist November. • The £100 challenge issued by Tom Alley and accepted by George. "Walker that no man could escape from Alley's "crucifix hold" has been declared off. At the conclusion of the match between these wrestlers last Monday evening, the crowd remained clamouring for the "crucifix" challenge, which had been advertised to take place. Walker sat in a corner of the ring, but Alley, who lost the match and had been, heavily thrown, was unable to reappear for the demonstration. In order that the. public should not be disappointed a second time tho police insisted that the "crucifix" challenge should be decided prior to the amateur preliminary bouts next Monday night, otherwise a permit would not be granted. Howeryor, tho New Zealand Wrestling Association, under whoso control tho rc^ turn wresirling match between Alley and Walker is to be stage, could not run the risk of eiflier man being injured in the "crucifix" challenge and declared the challenge oil.
