DISASTROUS FROST
STRICKEN NORTH CANTERBURY

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Reports from North Canterbury confirm the news of heavy damage by yesterday^ unexpected frost. It was the most disastrous ever experienced iii October. Owners of orchards >havc lost extensively. Last year's output of fruit from commercial orchards at Loburn and Eangiora was well up to 70,000 cases, and this year 10,000 cases of apples have been guaranteed by the Eangiora and Loburn Fruitgrowers' Association for export. Now it L expected that there will not be a case available for the overseas trade.
