"HIAWATHA."
For the first tlmo In tho history of the Royal Wellington Choral Union a theatrical performance with costumes and scenery complete Is to bo given. • This will mean the complete transformation of tho choir section and platform of the Town Hall, which Is to be built up and canopied to represent a sceno typical of the Red Indian country of America prior to tho arrival of the White Man. "Hiawatha" will be presented In two scenes, summer and winter, and tho change from tho former to the latter is being Ingeniously arranged hy Mr. llarison Cook, tbe producer, on the lines of similar productions at tho Albert Hall, London. There will be four performances, on 7th, Bth, and !)th November, with a matinee on Saturday, Otii November. The performers will number 400, under tho musical direction of_Mr. John Bishop. The principals havo been drawn from all parts of the Dominion, and include Messrs. Ernest Short, Barry Coney, Hubert Carter, Edwin Dennis, ('.. M. Murcti, J. N. Duncan, J. E. KnowsIcy, Harlson Cook. Madamo Winnie Fraser, Misses Christina Ormlston, Alma Clcgg, and Mrs, Ellison Porter. Tho box plan for tho evening performances will open at tho Bristol on Thursday morning next at !> o'clock-.
