THE ENGLISH CURLEW.
- The curlew, or scone plover, as it is sometimes called, is a bird .with long thin legs and a black bill. It is dark grey on the back, with black. markings. Its throat is bluff, the ches,i white, streaked with black, and there is a white patch on the wings. It builds its nest on the ground, and has a few sticks and pieces of bark around it. It eats insects r.nd berries, and at nignt makes a noise that sounds like "wee-10, wee-lo."
