LONDON, 3rd October. The National Union of Manufacturers has passed a resolution at* Manchester calling on the Government to utilise tho forthcoming Economic Conference to promote Empire- trade by means of mutual preferences. Mr. George Terrell, the president, congratulated the Hon. J. H. Thomas on discovering the value of Imperial preference in Canada. He said that he would not bo surprised if the Labourites to-morrow supported the safeguarding duties.
