DANGEROUS DRIVING ON THE TERRACE

(To the Editor.)

Suy-I wouldlhk& to draw the attention of the powers that be to the way in which the traffic regulations are ignored by motorists on The Terrace. At the top of Woodward street, close to the Wellington Club, a notice is.fastened to the telegraph and telephone post at that point which, reads, '"Speed limit 10 miles per hour," the reason of the regulation being to protect cars coming up Woodward street and making a. left-hand turn up. The Terrace and aJsq cara coming out of the club and other right-of-ways abutting on to the street. Happening to live since coming to this city just at this section, I cannot help noticing how drivers : race down the hill often at a mad speed quite regardless of consequences, and in spite or the warning posted up. Only yesterday there was an accident at this spot, and -unless more care is exercised by drivers something worse will happen. It would be a good idea to have a traffic officer stand somewhere in the locality, where he could not be easily seen, for a few hours some day, and see how many he would catch breaking the regulations. I fancy his notebook would be kept going all the time.—* I am, etc., ' >-■■ W.P.K. 4th October. :.; ■
