GRAND OPERA HOUSE.
Although the present season is drawing to a close there was another large audience at the Grand Opera House last night when "The Desert Song," a- colourful and spectacular talo ot .Morocco, was again presented. Bright and tuneful music, fine scenery, arid excellent talent In the east all go to make the show the success it is. The part of Red Shadow was taken last night by Mr. Lan Deveraux (owing, to the indisposition of Mr. Lance Fairfax). Mr. Deveraux proved a very able understudy, and he and Miss Romola Hansen, the heroine, sing some excellent numbers together, notably the 'one from which the production takes its name. The comedy work Is in the hands,of Herbert Mundin and Miss Renee Murphy, and there are laughs in plenty, which, however, do not interfere With the smooth trend of the story. Miss Sonya.Rosova dances with a sinuous grace and Mr. Herbert Browne's delightful . tenor voice is heard to full advantage in his part as Sid El Bar. Special mention must also he made of the chorus singing and the ballet, which are two of the big.features of the show. "The Desert Song" will conclude its Wellington season on Saturday night. .
