AGAINST HOOVER'S WISHES

The Senate, by a Vote of 47 to 42, approved .an amendment sponsored ■by Senators Simons and Norris and supported by a coalition of insurgent Eepublicans and Democrats to strike out the flexible provisions from the pending Tariff' Bill and substitute .'.clause making the Tariff Commission the agency of Congress instead of the President. The action is contrary to President Hoover'a wishes.
