TO-DAY'S PLAY
(By 'Teiegraph.r-Press Association.)
WAN.GANUT, This Day.
. Fine weather, prevails for the continuation .of tlie g&lf championships. To-day the semiTfihals of tho amateur championship are boing played. The following are. the positions at the end of the first 18 holes: J. L. Black, 6 up on •A.'.-'G. Sime; S. Morpeth and L. Cathro, aU square.
The Sime-Blaek match is uisappointingj Black is playing perfect golf. His round was 72. Sime played badly, for him, and could, only record an 81-round. A feature of Black's game is his sound putting. Black scored a sensational win at The Outlook (seventh). Sime had a sitter for a 4. Black's approach was too strong, and cannoned off Sime's ball for a 3 and a win.
Tho Cathro-Morpoth match is a very close one, and a very fine display of golf. Morpeth was 3 up at Alma (thirteenth), but Cathro's absolute steadiness in the run home wiped out tho deficiency, and at the end of tho first eighteen holes tho match is square. Both record 73-rounds. Cathro's safo game is trying Morpeth to his best.
