LONDON, 2nd October,

The Dominion Office 'is hopeful of most important results from the Imperial Constitutional Conference to be held on Bth October to consider matters referred to it by the 1926 Imperial Conference, including the operation of colonial laws, the validity of the Act preceding the institution of self-govern-ment in Canada and Australia, but since found inadequate to-modern conditions, notably the relation of modern shipping, which is now the subject of conflicting laws and regulations within the Empire. It is hoped that these will be-assimilated. :

It is expected that Lord Passfield will preside., Other delegates for Britain will be the Attorney-General (Mr. W. Jowett) and the President of the Board of Trade (Mr. W. Graham). Canada will be represented by Mr. Lapointe, Australia by Messrs. Harrison and Moore, N,ew Zealand by Sir James Parr, South Africa by Dr. Bodenstein, and Mr. F. W. Beyers, and the Irish Free State by Messrs. M'Gilligan and Costigan.

The conference will sit in camera, but communiques will be issued periodically. -
