(To the Editor.) , 8 a final- reply *° "Statician" t would like to make it clear that the facSt 1 have stated"in my letters have not beea taken from books or other folks' report* but are the result of my own investiga. tion and practical experience. I went to America to learn how to build roads, and my experience was not confined to tho various forms of bituminous roads, but covered cement-concrete roads as well, J-ne Cement Associations in America-pay men big salaries to distribute the sort of things "Statieian" has . quoted. On th» other hand, the big oil companies spend iarge sums advertising their side of the case. I have good friends in the cement industry/ I use" cement quite often, but that does not alter the fact that a b'tumen road, properly laid on good foundations at the end of 15 years' service should uave many years of. service ahead of it, regardless of "Statician's" opinion to tha contrary.—l. am, etc., A.
