BREAK IN THE WEATHER
■The further advance from over the Tasman Sea towards the Dominion of ii deproasion has resulted in a considerable fall in barometric pressure in the South "Island. In the North Island, however, barometers are still .fairly high as the northern anti-cyclone has made but small progress eastwards. Northerly winds have freshened somewhat, and in and south of Cook Strait have become strong, a north-westerly gale being reported from Puysegur Point. Fair to fine weather .has been the general rule, but in districts with a westerly aspect light rain has fallen in scattered places. Mild and springliko conditions prevailed locally and elsewhere yesterday, the day beinir ideal. fe
Moderate to strong northerly winds will reach gale force at times.in Cook and Foyeaux Straits, but in the south winds will back to the south after about twenty-four hours. Cloudy and unsettled weather is probable, with rain tairly general in western 'districts. Scattered rain in eastern districts is likely later. Mild temperatures will provail at first, but a cold change may be expected in the south after about twenty-four hours. ■
