NEW WOOL PACKS
WISE' AND PAPER
(From."The Post's" Representative.) 1 LONDON, 23ra August. In March last what is known as the Wool Pack Committee mot in London to examine various new forms of packs which aro meant to obviate the trouble caused by jute.'getting into the wool. This matter is being hanaiea by the Braafbfd Chamber of Commerce, ana :t the, meeting March a number of representatives 'from firms dealing in Australian andvNew Zealand wool were invited to be" present. There w^er'e'; three types of packs examined.; .'One was mado of paper arid wire- 'yC The paper was wrapped about a. ..very thin wire, ana the eoi-a thus made-vras woven into > cloth. Another" pack was mado of pure paper, and a third type was a jute pack treatoa with a solution. The committee showed greater interest in the first two typos. The paper ana. wire type was manufactured by Messrs. S. W. Whaley and Son (Juto), Limited, of. Bradfora, and the paper type is the production of the British Research Association for the Woollen and. Worsted Industries, Leeds. . It was decided to send twenty-five each of these two typos to South Africa, Australia, ana New Zealand respectively for experimental purposos. The twenty-five of the wire-paper packs have now been received by the High Commissioner's Department, ana a°o boing sent out to Wellington by the Remuera, sailing on 30th August. The Department of Agriculture will distribute the packs, and they will be put through the ordinary processos of filling, pressing, and stowing. When the filled packs roach this country they will be subjected to a thorough examination. The paper packs from Leeds should be received very shortly, and these will also, bo forwaraed to' tho Department of Agriculture.
