SENSATIONAL INCIDENT
COUPLE JUMP INTO A RIVER

' BLENHEIM, This Day. A sensational incident occurred last evening whon, following an altercation betwßon a young couple both leapt from the Alfred Street Bridge into the Omaka Eivor. The pair were first observed quarrelling a hundred yards trom thp hvidge. The young lady attempted to escape the man 's attentions, but he overtook her, and the argument continued on the bridge, which is in one of _the main business thoroughfares Suddenly the woman climbed the handrail of tho bridge and leapt into tha water, the man following hor example. The polico arrieed on tha scene a moment later ana rescued the pair. Tha woman was conveyed to tho public hospital, white tho man was taken to the police station.
, T ! 1S ™>""ng at the, Polico Court, William DalzeiJl Keith (28) pleaded not guilty to assaulting Edna Kitto, also to a chargo of offensive behaviour. The police applied for a romand in custody till to-morrow morning, as the girl'is still in, hospital.
