AT OXFORD
THE HIGH COMMISSIONER
(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 6th June. On arrival in Oxford yesterday, Sir James Parr was met by the president and secretary of tho Hongi Club. During the morning be paid a visit on the Hon. H. A. L. Fisher, warden of Now College, and formerly Minister of Education in tho Lloyd George Government.
Sir James Parr was eritortained at luncheon in the Senior Common Boom at New Collage by the Hongi Club. The following New Zealanders were present: Messrs. 11. Barak (president in the chair), A. L. Haslam (secretary) D. F. Aitken, D. K. Baleombe-Brown K. Clark, D. E. Denny-Brown, W. C 4 Kalaugher, C. E. Low, B. T. C. Newton H. Pitts-Brown, J. Platts-Mills, F w' W. Rhodes, 6. 1?. Saunders, C. A. Sharp G. H. O. Wilson, Q. O. Wilson, W. m! Acton-Adams, and Drs. S. P. M'Callum and W. P. Morrell.
After the president had welcomed Sir Jameß Parr to Oxford, the High Commissioner expressed his interest in the residential system in vogue in the University, and made some comparisons with the New Zealand methods of university education. He said he was satisfied that all was well with the Oxford New Zealanders. The occasion was quite informal and went off very successfully. Sir James Parr visited Blenheim Park in the afternoon and spent some time at the seat of the Duke of Marlborough. Later he took tea with Sir Francis Wylie, Oxford secretary to the Ehodes trustees. In tho evening he was the guest of Dr. S. P. M'Callum, the former Ehodes scholar from Cantorbury College, who is now a follow of New College. Ho dined with him at high table in New College, which lias the distinction of being the.oldest dining hall in Great Britain.
Sir James Parr ■ returned to London this morning after stayinp the night in New College.
