MATCH WITH AUCKLAND

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Football Aorociation was held last evening, Mr. W. B. Hicks presiding. Others present were Messrs. J. 11. Coleman, F. Mackie, R. J. Weir, H. Spolsky, J. -Kean, E. Heath, T. Plant, S. C. Shedden, T. Plant, and B. A. Mabiu (secretary).

It was notified that, owing to insufficient entries, the workshops' competition would be postponed until next season.

The New Zealand Football Association wrote confirming the Wellington Football Association's suspension of Wadestown and Waterside second A division teams.

A donation of £2 2s towards the finances ot the- New Zealand Football Association was received from the Marist Club. The Marist Club notified, in regard to a complaint, that no junior A players had been included in the Marist junior C team that recently played Eastbourne.

Owing to questions concerning the postponement of the Miramar Kangers-Lower Hutt fifth grade match, it was decided that-the match should be replayed at the end of the season if necessaiy. 'A request for the withdrawal of- the Lower Hutt junior B team was granted. A request for the transference of the Lower Hutt junior C team from Eastbourne to Melling was refused. Because of the Boy Scouts' jamboree on Saturday next, all fifth and sixth grade matches on that date are to be postponed.

The Auckland Football Association wrote congratulating the Wellington team on its splendid showing against Auckland, and requesting another match with Wellington on the same terms as previously, ami with the football trophy involved. It was decided that the match be played on 14th or 21st September at Auckland. Mr. Plant referred to the fact ot referees wearing glasses l>eing debarred from the game. He said that at present six first-class referees were standing down because of the ruling, which originated in England, where conditions are different to those in New Zealand. Mr. Hicks said that it wouid be desirable if the ruling could be used in representative matches and waived in club matches. It was resolved to forward a resolution to the New Zealand Football Association requesting that the rule should be waived in matches under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Football Association, and,' failing the application being sanctioned, the New Zealand Football Association to a^ply to the English Football Council asking for the granting of the concession. A rider, was included recommending the old rule to apply still in Intel-provincial fixtures. , .

The secretary stated that all trophies in the possession of clubs are to be forwarded to him by Wednesday, 7th August.
