Mr. John Puller, will stage at His Majesty's Theatre, the first of the English costume comedies which constitute thei company's .repertoire on their return visit to Wellington. The play in questiou. "The School for Scandal," has been the outstanding success of the Auckland "season, and both tho acting and the sumptuousness of the costuming were enthusiastically eulogised Mr. Allan Wilkie's performance of Sir Peter Teazle' Is said to rival any of the studies which have - won him so high a reputation, as a Shakespearian actor, "• while many of the admirers of Miss Hunter-Watts consider her Lady Teazle the best thing she has yet done. Enuallv high praise has been bestowed on other members of the comnanv. notably Mr. Alexander Marsh as 'Charles Surface. Mr. John Cairns as Sir Oliver, Mr. Herbert Sheldrick as Joscnh. and Miss Lorna Forbes as Mrs. Candour. The opening performance at His Majesty's Theatre will be the matinee on Saturday at 2.30. and In tho evening the play will be witnessed by Lady Alice Pereusson and a party from Government House. ; Sir Joseph Ward and party will also be present. On Wednesday next, commencing -with the matino, "She Stoops to Conouer" will be staged, and that will in turn be followed by "The Rivals." Box plans at the Bristol Piano Company are now open.
