. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The weather was fine though cold for the training operations at Riccarton this morning. The outside of the trial grass track provided good galloping ground, though it was still slow, and all the horses with engagements on Saturday were sent along at a sound pace. There was a little jumping, but the proceedings wc^p not particularly exciting. Lancer and Wrigley ran halt' a mile up tho back in 55sec, finishing to<S£her. Desert Song broke away in front of Quick Plunge at the half-milo post, but was steadied. Tho pair ran homo on terms, Quick Plunge doing 52 2-ssec, a useful effort. ■ Leader and The Viscount occupied 53 3-osec for half a mile. La Pompadour and Innisfree followed over the same ground in 53see. Malmsey boat Kentish Lady over five furlongs, taking 52 3-sscc for the last half mile. Fabriano aud Te Hauuui jumped the three steeplechase fences in the straight, giving a safo display. Full Feathor and Sudden Storm covered six furlongs in 1 lmiu 21 1-osec, with nothing between them at the finish. ' ■ ■' . Kawini did useful pace work. Sarnia sprinted half a mile by herself in 52 l-ssee, finishing well. Amor and Elysianor covered six furlongs in lruin 2Gsee without being unduly bustled. Gay Jim and Lord Ranald were associated over a mile, registering lmin 54 4-ssee. They kept together all the way, and did their work well. Royal Saxon ran five furlongs, Blue Metal joining in for tho last half-mile, which occupied 54sec. They were both going well at the finish. Their mate, Dumblane, ran along at a sound pace for half a mile. Kate Kelly covered five furlongs in lmin 7 2-ssec. Bulolo and Safety sprinted half a mile in 54 2-ssec, but were not ridden out. Troilus and Fresh Breeze registered 53 2-ssec for half a mile. _ Audience, Solrose, aud Airplane finished in that order over half a mile in 52 l-ssec: Audieneo went well. Oriflamb and Kaikahu were companions over two rounds of the steeplechase fences. Oriflamb chanced one or two of the obstacles, but it was a satisfactory effort. Bon Ayran and Grand National were companions in a working gallop over a mile. Grand Song and a mate sprinted half a mile in 52 3-ssec. Gaze and Watorlow ran half a mile along the back in 53see, Haze going on tor another half a mile at an easier pace. Prickles and Royal Flower covered six furlongs comfortably in lmin 24 l-ssec. . Gold Tinge and Academy sprinted half a mile easily in 54 2-ssec. . Buoyant and Moy Hall registered lmin 22sec for six furlongs, a useful gallop. Honeycomb and Huntly sprinted half a mile in 52 2-ssec, Solgele taking 54 l-ssec by himself. Mime got to the end of a mile in lmin 53 3-ssec. Aberfeldy beat Perle ac Leon by several lengths over nine furlongs in 2min 7 l-ssec. Barriugton, Paris, and Taramoa were schooled over four hurdles. Barrington led throughout, giving a good exhibition of jumping, but the pace was not fast. Grand Acre and Chiekwheat sprinted half a mile in 55sec, while Rapier and Storm Raid went well over thevsame ground in 52 2-ssec. Amorist was given a working gallop over six furlongs. King Balboa was restricted to useful pace work. Mister Gamp, Novar, Horomea, Anolo, Bonogne, Mangani, Wiltshire, and TTralla arrived from the North by .this morning's steamer. A. E. The Biccartou tracks are drying up nicely, and the course should be in good order for the Christchurch Hunt Club's Meeting on Saturday. ':
