STREET ACCIDENT

AUCKLAND, This Day.

As the resnlt of being accidentally run . down by a motor truck in Point Chevalier road this afternoon, Colin Laing, aged 10, received a grave injury, believed to be a fracture of the skull. Tho patient was reported to be ia a serious condition to-night.

The boy had been playing football, and, in company with other boys, was proceeding home about 4.10. On reaching the main road he gave chase to the ball which rolled through a fence into the street. He was instantly knocked, down by a motor-lorry.

The vehicle swerved violently across the road in a vain effort to avoid the boy, and striking a rough portion of the road between two strips of concrete turned over on its side. The driver escaped injury. Laing was dragged several yards by fchp vehicle before it capsized, and was rendered unconscious. He was conveyed to the hospital by a postal van which happened to be passing.
