SYDNEY, 26th July. A deputation consisting of sixteen Federal and State members of Parliament to-day emphasised the seriousness of the coal situation and asked the Act-ing-Premier, Mr. Buttonshaw, to compel owners to reopen the mines, otherwise the Government should take them over and reopen them.

Mr. Buttenshaw agreed to call a special meeting of Cabinet and place the deputation's representations before his colleagues.
