t William Heughan has been acknowledged as "an incomparable Scottish singer and artist" In Edinburgh the Press acclaimed his as "setting a new standard for Scottish song." In him they found a great International singer yet a Scot. One who gave Scottish song as much study and thought as ho would to any of the other great musical classics, therein lies the difterenco of Heughan's work Few troubled beforo to think of what tho songs meant, how they should be Interpreted. The editor of a newspaper in the Orient recently wrote .1 leading article on Heiiehan and Scottish song; an extract reads as follows■Pause for a moment, do most of tho readers of tins paper Know what a Scottisli song really is, when it is sung by a flrst-chiss artist? AVc would not deprecate at all tho efforts of Scotch comedians, but they do not pretend to sing Scottish songs. Mr. Heughan not only pretends, ho sines Scottish songs as no other man living to-day can begin to sing Htem. Sir. Heughan will give iccitals in the I Town Hall, on Bth, 9tn, ana 10th August.
