LETTERS.

Dear Fairiel, —It is such a long time since I wrote to you last time. I have been for a holiday to Melbourne. I had such a lovely time over there. I stayed at my auntie's house. One Sunday my brother and I were> having a sun bath in the sun. While wo were out in the yard my aunt came out to read the paper in the sun too. My brother got my skipping rope and tied aunt to the chair, and then he got a few feathers from the fowlhouse and put them in the band of her hat. Fairiel, do you still save the .silver paper? I went to the Zoo in Melbourne and saw lots of pretty animals. There wero many beautiful parrots and little birds. My brother said he is going to write to you next week. I am sending you some riddles. MURIEL.' Wellington. Dear .Fairiel, —I suddenly thought I would like to write to you^again. There is a little black pony out hero which. I often ride when I am not at school. One day my sister got on to have a ride and she fell off. My father and I had to laugh at the way she landed on the ground..' She said she hurt her arm, but I think she only said. it to make us stop laughing. One morning when we went to catch. her, she ran away from us, because I think she was frightened wo woro going, to hit her for breaking off the rope. : One day in the holidays my cousin and I wanted to ride the pony on the beach so we took it down there and had turns of galloping round the beach, while my sister rode my cousin's bike. She couldn't get on by herself so I had to hold it for her. We laughed that much sometimes that, she'd fall off again. She doesn't seem to be able to stick on anything when w» laugh at her.—Love from "TOM MIX." Titahi Bay. Dear Fairiel, —I havo just finished making some chocolate roughs, the recipe which Daffa-Down-Dilly sent in this week. I will not know what they; are like till to-morrow, as they have to set for twenty-four hours. • I like doing crossword puzzles, and I havo enjoyed doing the one this week. Yesterday 1 went to the Winter Show, and I had a ride on the merry-go-round. It was lovely to feel yourself going round on a horse which rises and falls. Have you been on the Ferris Wheel, Fairiel? I was going to go on it yesterday, but it wasn't moving. In front of the seats is a bar on which you hold on to. I went up and touched it, and I felt funny, little thrills running up my fingers. It must have had electricity in it. One of the side-shows was a table on which were all kinds of different objects over which you had to throw wooden rings. One of the objects was a box with a 10s note, and a watch on it. I was watching some people trying to get the hoop over it, but they couldn't. I think I'd better stop now or.you won't have time to read my long letter.—Lots of love from DOROTHY ALEXANDEB. Kilbirnie. Dear Fairiel,; —Spring will be coming soon. There is a black' and white cat next door. My aunty has a farm. She has two cows, Euby and Nellie. She has about thirty fowls, a dog, Darkie, a cat, Nigger. Love from NOLA. Newtown.
