COUNTRY WOMEN CONFER
Mrs. Jackson, the newly-elected president, took tho chair at the eonforenco of tho Women's Division of the' Farmers' Union yesterday. The constitution, as proposed at last conference, was adopted with a fow alterations. It was decided to form provincial committees to unite a number of branches, and some discussion took place as to the representation of these at tho conforenco. It was finally left for members to discuss during tho year, as the formation of such provincial committees will take some time. Meantime representation at tho conference consists of tho presidents of branches, and a dolegato to evory hundred or part of a hundred members. A branch can Jbo formed by five or nioro members, and shall have an executive consisting of the president, ono or more vice-presidents, secrotary and treasurer, and not less than four members of committee. Tho Dominion executive is to consist #f the Dominion president, two or moro vice-presidents, hon. treasurer, hon. secretary, and tho presidents of provincial committees and presidents of branches. Questions of finance were discussed and also rules for tho Bush Nurso and Housekeepers' Committee. The community chest account, which ia solely for tho payment of bush nurse and housekeeper expenses for tho benefit of country women and children, shows tho sum of £897 17s Id in hand. Salaries during tho year amounted to £SSG Gs 4d, of which £222 17s Gd had been recovered. At the conclusion of tho business on Thursday afternoon, a presentation of a handsomo bowl- was mado to Mrs Joll, tho acting-president. Mrs Dur«eld, of Hamilton, who mado tho presentation on behalf of tho conference said Mrs. Joll had been a "real soldior, stopping into a breach when she was required. Mrs. M< Corkindale, who tor tho second time had takon tho duties ot secretary in an emergency at the conference, was presented with a crystal and silver trinket bowl
