SHIELD HOCKEY
TO-MORROW'S MATCH.
What promises to be an unusually attractive exposition of hockey will be witnessed at the Basin Reserve to-morrow | afternoon, when the Canterbury and Wellington senior representatives will meet in a match for the New Zealand Hockey I Challenge Shield. Competition for this trophy has been very keen since it was nrst.made available many years ago, and it is anticipated that to-morrow's match will maintain the high standard set in these_ challenge matches. Wellington won the shield from Auckland last season, and Canterbury are the first to challenge this year, showing their keenness: to regain the trophy which they. held some seasons ago over a long period. Both; teams are capable'of first-class hockey, and the game should be worth watching. ' A .curtainraiser , will be provided by ladies' senior players. . ,
