THE RELIEF STEAMER
AKAHUKA AT WESTPOKT
The Auehoi Shipping Company's steamer Arahura, which left Nelson at 4.30 p.m. yesterday for Westport to take off people who desired to leave the district, encountered a south-west gale on tho voyage, and made slow progress, but she ariived there about 5 o'clock this morning. It is proposed that the vessel shall leave Westport at 9 o'clock to-night for Nelson, taking as ordinary passengers those persons who desire to get away. (By Telegraph.—Piessi Association.) The Arahura, which left for "Westport last evening as a- precautionary measure, is expected to enter at 5.30 p.m. It is understood that her services as 1 a refugee ship will not be rcquiied, ! and the vessel will probably pick up i ordinary passengers only.
